John is the founder of Private Therapy Services. He graduated from the University of Florida with a bachelor’s degree in Exercises and Sports Science, completing his National Certification in Athletic Training. John then went on to achieve a Masters degree in physical therapy from the University of St. Augustine, where he studied under Stanley Paris, PT, PhD, FAPTA.
John is a Certified Manual Therapist (MTC) and has completed his Doctorate Degree in Orthopedic and Manual Therapy. He has 3 little boys and currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Boy Scouts of America (Coastal Carolina Council). He has worked with Olympic medalists in track and field, SEC Championship teams, McDonalds All Stars, The Orlando Predators Arena Football, The South Carolina Stingrays, the Charleston Battery and the Charleston community for ten years. John still plays competitive soccer, pick-up basketball, surfs and is giving golf a try.
Melissa is a Pennsylvania native who moved to South Carolina in 2000 on a soccer scholarship to The University of South Carolina. She captained the team to SEC Tournament appearances her last two seasons. Melissa then moved to Charleston to complete her Masters and later her Doctorate Degrees in Physical Therapy at the Medical University of South Carolina.
She now calls Charleston her home and has been treating the needs of the community. Dr. Hutson’s specialties include orthopedic, sports medicine and wellness.
Lucy is a South Carolina native and graduate from the University of South Carolina and the Medical University of South Carolina with a Doctorate Degree in Physical Therapy.
Lucy is a world traveler and the mother of a wonderful son, West. Dr. Freeman specializes in orthopedic rehabilitation and women’s health issues.
Jennifer L. Goff DPT is a manually trained therapist from the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences. Jenny hails from Louisville, KY and has a variety of physical therapy experience in different settings. Jenny's athletic background in swimming has
contributed greatly to her understanding of human movement patterns and efficiency in the human body.
She swam for Transylvania University and has held Kentucky state swimming records. Jenny is the pioneer of our aquatic therapy program in which she treats a variety of injuries and disorders. She recently completed the Aquatic Therapy Certification program to add to her list of specialties. Her knowledge, training, positive attitude, and empathy for patients make her a valuable asset to the Private Therapy Services team both in the land and the water!
William Avery received his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of St. Augustine and has been extensively trained in manual therapy assessment/treatment with a primary emphasis in orthopaedic management of the spine, shoulder complex, and lower extremities.
William grew up in northeast Tennessee and enjoyed athletics which extended on into his undergraduate studies at Appalachian State University where he majored in Exercise Science and double minored in Biology and Psychology. Will spent time traveling and treated patients on the west coast while climbing mountains including Mt. Hood and Mt. Shasta. Will bases his patient management on clinic experience and evidenced based research and has been a valued addition to the Private Therapy Services team.
Kimberly "KD" Barber is the Office Manager that keeps the clinic running with a smile. She is a southern native with a wonderful heart and spirit. Her extensive insurance and billing knowledge makes it easy for patients to understand the confusing world of health care paperwork.
When KD is not running the clinic she and her husband are raising 3 wonderful daughters. We are lucky to have her here at PTS.
Jennifer Kinsey has joined the team to help both KD and our therapists. She is a University of North Carolina graduate with an Exercise and Sports Science Degree.
She may soon resume her studies in Physical Therapy, but until then we appreciate all that she does to help us with all aspects of the clinic.
